xampp tools

So after a bit of searching around I have found a fantastically easy to use installation of apache 2, mysql 5, PHP 5 etc. The only thing that the tool suite lacks is good fastcgi integration and rails.

Check it out here.

Humans and Human Rights

After reading some of the new articles on whispers.blogsource.com/ I got a think’n.

The first thought that I have was around the perceived differentiation of the human species from the other species on the planet. While it might be true that “politics and rights” issues occupy more of the press then “environmental” issues I believe that they are simply two sides of the same coin. There is no point disassociating the human species in anyway from its environment. The reason for this is simple: Human politics, internal and external to nations are the major contributor to the state of the environment today.

This brings me to another point the Human Rights Declaration appears to lack integration with an environmental framework. After all the protection of the environment is often in line with the protection of human rights.

Thought Numero Duo; The moral high ground! What makes the moral high ground that we take valid? Well at the end of the day…… probably nothing. That said I believe that there are obvious violations of rights and freedoms that from a pragmatic point of view can be deemed immoral and in just. For example the stoning to death of women in the Middle East should not be allowed regardless of how you colour the glass.

The use of arguments around cultural differences is simply a call to inaction.
